Thy Kingdom Come

Thy Kingdom Come is a global ecumenical prayer movement that invites Christians around the world to pray for more people to come to know Jesus. What started in 2016 as an invitation from the Archbishops of Canterbury and York to the Church of England has grown into an international and ecumenical call to prayer.’

We, along with others in our Grouping, will be focusing on prayer from Ascension to Pentecost. To help us in this there will be the opportunity of following a daily devotional written by various contributors and a prayer journal provided (free of charge) to all who want to participate.

Our prayers and hope is that this time will help us all focus on how we can come together in common vision for the advancement of the Kingdom of God within this Western Grouping.

Later we will have an opportunity to share outcomes and testimony.

We will end the season of prayer with a joint service of praise to be hosted by Dundee West Kirk on Pentecost Evening.

John Macmillan’s setting apart as a National Reader of the Church of Scotland

What a great evening as John went forward to become a National Reader in the Church of Scotland.  The Moderator of Fife Presbytery (Rev James Reid pictured on the left) led the service and the Rev Gavin Black (pictured on the right) gave a stirring message.  John’s wife, Caroline, led one of the hymns, ‘God beyond all names’ and friends read the scriptures Psalm 139 was read by Ewan Falconer and Matthew 14:22-33 was read by Christine Padgham.  We pray that John will have a fruitful ministry wherever the Lord leads and a blessing on all his family for releasing him to this task.

Qoheleth (The Preacher)

As we recommence our Bridge Bible Class today, 27th of May, we will be considering the writing of Qoheleth, better known to us as Ecclesiastes in our Bible. These studies will be offered every Monday during our online Zoom Bible studies as well as a much more detailed consideration during at our future Bridge Bible Classes that will take place on the last Saturday of May, June, August, and September. We will also be considering this book during our Sunday morning services and learning how it still has impact for the Christian today.

Girls Brigade Badge and Awards Service

A big thanks to Felicity and all her team who helped make the day go so well. Each of the girls and all the congregation learned that, as ‘living stones’, we all have our part to play in God’s plan. On this coronation weekend we saw that each of us is special too – loved and accepted by God and equipped to share that love with others.

Excerpts from todays service…

This was a weekend to remember – not just because of the Coronation of King Charles III 🙂 whom we wish God’s blessing upon. The special badge was given as a thanks to all the leaders and even their chaplain got one too.

Come along to Dundee West Church this Pentecost Sunday evening for a 6.30 p.m. service of celebration. We will have musicians from across the grouping to help lead us in praise and worship. The focus will be on our gathering together and trusting that the Holy Spirit will do something new as we seek to lift up Christ in the midst.

This will be a time for us to get to know each other across the group and enjoy fellowship over refreshments after the service in our upper hall.
